Where can I buy Hurricane?
Hurricane is available in paperback and eBook from Divertir Publishing (www.DivertirPublishing.com) and is available on all online stores (Amazon, B&N, Smashwords) and select stores. A portion of the proceeds will go to charity (Habitat for Humanity-New Orleans).
What's the setting of Hurricane?
Hurricane is set in New Orleans in 2005, right before Hurricane Katrina. Although the majority of the novel is set in New Orleans, as they evacuate for example, the characters spend time in other places.
Is there a sequel to Hurricane?
Yes! Aftermath is book two in the Hurricane Series and I have plans for a third novel in the series.
Who does Ana end up with?
If I said anything into that, it wouldn't be much fun!
How did you come up with the title for this book?
Hurricane was the working title and it just fit perfectly. The title has a double entendre which refers to both the Hurricane that hit New Orleans in 2005 and more importantly, the main character’s life.
Do you do school visits?
Absolutely! Please email Jenna-Lynne@DivertirPublishing.com for more information.
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in New Orleans, LA.
Where are you currently?
I live in in Minnesota where I graduated from Edina High School and the University of St. Thomas.
What inspired you to write YA novels?
Growing up , I read all the classics. Romeo and Juliet was a favorite of mine, as was anything Shakespeare. It wasn't until I started college that I started to read Young Adult novels, and fell in love with them. I always knew I wanted to be a writer, now I just know what kind of writer.
Have you always wanted to be a writer when you grew up?
I have always loved to write. I really wanted to be a doctor and veterinarian when I grew up. I love helping people and I love animals. Of course, in reality, to be able to become a doctor and a veterinarian I would have had to have gone to school for like fifteen consecutive years. But those dreams were killed when I took high school Anatomy. Let’s just say I don’t do well with blood and after dissecting a chicken wing, I'm now a vegetarian!
Give me a quote about being a writer.
“Just write”. It’s simple yet good advice. Sometimes you can't worry about plot, grammar or editing, you just have to sit and write it out. It is the literary version of Nike’s “Just do it” slogan.
What do you do when you’re not writing?
I am spending time with my family, traveling, and reading.
What were you favorite novels as a teenager?
For some reason, I loved all the dystopian novels; Brave New World, 1984, A Handmaid's Tale..
What's on your iPod?
I have the most diverse list of music; a classical music CD called Music in the Wind by Khrystenn Asariah, Cold Play, Paramore, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood, and the soundtrack to the movies Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights and A Love Song for Bobby Long.
